Shopify and Meta Partner on AI Checkout as Shares Rally

Shopify and Meta Platforms announced Monday that Meta's Muse AI agent can browse Shopify-powered stores and complete purchases on users' behalf through Shop Pay, the ecommerce platform's accelerated checkout service. Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke confirmed the partnership in a post on X, saying the company was "excited to announce we are partnering deeply with Muse to enable agentic checkout with Shop Pay on all Shopify stores, offering people an easy and delightful way to shop and check out with Muse." Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang said the integration would give Muse users access to a wider range of stores. Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg also posted about the deal, adding that more partnerships of the kind are coming. Neither company disclosed financial terms, a revenue split, or a rollout timetable for the integration. The announcement contrasts with Amazon's approach. Amazon has barred Muse from completing purchases on its site, saying continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates its Conditions of Use.
