Shailene Woodley Reveals She Was Cut From The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Actress Shailene Woodley has revealed she kept silent for over a decade about her disappointment after her scenes as Mary Jane Watson were cut from the 2014 film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Speaking during a recent interview for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations series, Woodley described learning about the decision a year after filming her parts with star Andrew Garfield. Woodley said she was cast in the role of Mary Jane, a character she described as her "dream" part, after a meeting with director Marc Webb rather than a traditional audition. She filmed three scenes with Garfield, who played Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
