Shah says India's linguistic diversity is its greatest strength

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday marked Hindi Diwas by declaring that India's linguistic diversity is its greatest strength, not a weakness. In a message to the nation, Shah emphasized that the progress of Hindi must be accompanied by the dignity, promotion, and protection of all other Indian languages. Shah stated that while some view the country's many languages as a source of division, he sees them as a unifying force. "Everyone says that our languages are diverse. That is our weakness. But I believe that our greatest strength is that we have so many languages," he said. He added that each language carries a unique history and worldview, contributing to the values of younger generations and strengthening the sense of unity in diversity. The Home Minister highlighted Hindi's role as a vital link for national integration. He noted that Hindi has served as a language of dialogue and coordination, connecting different sections and communities across the country. Shah pointed out that his own mother tongue is Gujarati, but Hindi enables him to communicate directly with people in various regions.
