Indian opener Shafali Verma became the youngest and fastest player to score 3,000 runs in women's T20 Internationals during her team's dominant seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Women's Asia Cup on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Verma reached the milestone at the age of 22 years and 220 days, surpassing the previous record held by Ireland's Gaby Lewis, who was 24 years and 347 days old when she achieved the feat. The 22-year-old also became the fastest to the landmark in terms of balls faced, requiring just 2,182 deliveries. She is the 16th player overall and the third Indian, after Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, to cross the 3,000-run mark in the format. The record-breaking moment came during a brief but explosive innings. Verma opened India's chase of a modest target of 56 by hitting a six off the very first ball she faced from Pakistan's Sadia Iqbal. She then took a single to bring up her 3,000 runs. Her aggressive start included another four before she was dismissed for 12 runs off six balls, caught and bowled by Pakistan captain Fatima Sana in the second over.
