Seven killed in Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash

Seven men were killed and two others injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in the early hours of Monday, August 24, 2026. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 12:03 a.m. along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor near Kara in Ogun State, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The incident involved three vehicles: a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC truck, a white MACK trailer, and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA. All nine individuals involved in the crash were male. Preliminary investigations by the FRSC Ogun State Sector Command identified speed violation as the probable cause of the accident, though a full investigation is ongoing.
