Seven killed in bus-auto collision in Andhra Pradesh

At least seven people were killed and eight others injured in a road accident in Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, August 27, 2026, when a private travels bus collided with an autorickshaw near Adda Road in Chilakaluripet. The victims were residents of Veluru village in Chilakaluripet mandal and were returning from a birthday celebration when the crash occurred. The accident took place in the early hours of Thursday. According to police, the private bus, which was traveling from Vijayawada towards Tirupati, collided with the autorickshaw that was heading from Konda Manjuru towards Velluru Junction. The autorickshaw was carrying 15 people at the time of the collision. Seven of them, including six women, were killed. Four died at the scene, while three others succumbed to their injuries at hospitals. The deceased have been identified as Bontu Babu, 62; Bontu Manemma, 55; Sampurnamma, 70; Gangamma, 50; Lakshmamma, 75; Choutupalli Swarthamma, 45; and Mariamma, 45. Eight people, including four children, sustained injuries in the crash. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
