Seven candidates contest DUSU president post in September 18 election

Seven candidates are contesting for the president's post in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections scheduled for September 18, 2026. The election will decide the leadership of the central student panel, with three of the four current central panel posts held by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and one by the National Students Union of India (NSUI). The ABVP has named Yash Dabas as its presidential candidate. The party's campaign, titled 'Aakhir Kab Tak?', focuses on safe student accommodation following the Satya Niketan incident. ABVP National General Secretary Virendra Singh Solanki stated the party is entering the election with a clear record of work and a focused agenda for improving academic facilities, campus infrastructure, and ensuring a safe environment for every student. The Congress-backed NSUI has fielded Vijay Shankar Meena for president. NSUI president Vinod Jakhar cited safety, accommodation, social justice, and democratic rights as key issues for the party's campaign. A joint Left alliance has been formed by the All India Students Association (AISA) and the Students Federation of India (SFI).
