Seven Activists Face Terrorism Connection Charge for Trump Golf Resort Vandalism

Seven activists from the protest group Palestine Action are set to appear in a Scottish court facing charges of malicious damage to former U.S. President Donald Trump's Turnberry golf resort, with prosecutors alleging the vandalism had a "terrorist connection" that could lead to significantly harsher sentences if they are convicted. The defendants, who have not been charged with any terrorism offenses, are scheduled for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday, August 31, 2026. The charges stem from an incident on March 8, 2025, when the activists allegedly broke into the luxury resort in South Ayrshire. According to the indictment, they dug up turf on the golf course, sprayed glyphosate weedkiller on fairways and greens, and daubed the clubhouse and signposts with paint. Slogans including "Gaza is not 4 sale," "Free Gaza," and "Free Palestine" were painted on the grounds. The indictment further states the group damaged a sprinkler system, causing flooding, and damaged a light. Prosecutors intend to prove the offense was "aggravated by reason of having a terrorist connection.
