Senator Adeola Planned Late Actor Ogogo for Government Role

Published 10 September 2026

Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State election, has revealed his intention to appoint the late veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, to a senior government position. Adeola, who also serves as the senator representing Ogun West, disclosed this plan on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, during a visit to Ogogo's family at their home in Ilaro. According to Adeola, he had intended to make Ogogo his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism if he won the governorship. He further indicated that the actor could have been considered for a larger role as a full cabinet member, serving at the state executive council level. Adeola stated that he had kept this plan private, working with the belief that it would materialize if he secured victory in the election. The disclosure was made in a video that has circulated widely on social media. Ogogo, a prominent figure in Nigeria's indigenous film industry, died at the age of 66 on August 23, 2026, following complications from cancer. Adeola's support for the actor extended beyond political aspirations.
