Selena's Brother Sues Sister Over Estate Profits

A.B. Quintanilla III, the brother of the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla Pérez, has filed a lawsuit against his sister, Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, and two corporate entities, alleging he has been denied his contractual share of profits from the singer's estate for nearly a decade. The lawsuit, filed on September 10, 2026, in Nueces County, Texas, seeks more than $1 million in damages and a full accounting of the estate's finances since January 2016. The legal dispute centers on a 1995 profit-sharing agreement signed by the family and Selena's widower, Chris Pérez, following the singer's murder. That agreement entitled A.B. Quintanilla III to 25 percent of net profits from Selena's entertainment properties, including her name, voice, image, and likeness. The lawsuit alleges he has not received his full contractual share since 2016, when Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga assumed operational control of the family's Q Productions company.
