Searchlight Announces 'The Family Stone' Sequel With Original Cast

Searchlight Pictures has announced a sequel to the 2005 holiday film "The Family Stone," with nearly the entire original cast set to return. The new film, titled "The Families Stone," will be written and directed by Tom Bezucha, who helmed the original. The sequel is set 20 years after the death of the family matriarch, Sybil Stone, a character played by Diane Keaton in the first film. Keaton passed away in October 2025. According to the official logline, the Stone family will reunite for Christmas and face a new surprise: their father has unexpectedly invited the woman he has fallen in love with to meet the family. Returning cast members include Claire Danes as Julie Morton, Rachel McAdams as Amy Stone, Dermot Mulroney as Everett Stone, Craig T. Nelson as Kelly Stone, Sarah Jessica Parker as Meredith Morton, Luke Wilson as Ben Stone, Tyrone Giordano as Thad Stone, Elizabeth Reaser as Susannah Stone, Paul Schneider as Brad Stevenson, and Brian White as Patrick Thomas. Production is scheduled to take place in New York this fall.
