SCO Summit Begins in Bishkek

Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization convened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on September 1, 2026, for the bloc's 26th summit, marking its 25th anniversary year. Hosted by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, the gathering brings together heads of state and government from the Eurasian political, security, and economic alliance for high-level discussions on regional cooperation and global issues. The formal meeting of the Council of Heads of State began at the Yntymak Ordo complex, where President Japarov welcomed leaders including China's Xi Jinping, Russia's Vladimir Putin, India's Narendra Modi, Iran's Masoud Pezeshkian, and Pakistan's Shehbaz Sharif.
