Saudi Wealth Fund Weighs Merging EA With Savvy Games

Published 10 September 2026

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is considering merging Electronic Arts with its gaming arm, Savvy Games Group, in a move that would place some of the world's best-known video game franchises under a single corporate roof, according to a report citing people familiar with the matter. The deliberations were first reported on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and no final decision has been reached. If completed, the combination would bring EA properties such as EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, Battlefield and The Sims together with Savvy's mobile holdings, including Pokemon Go and Monopoly Go!, which Savvy controls through its subsidiary Scopely. According to the report, the fund's executives hope such a structure would allow better coordination between its gaming assets, giving the fund a single vehicle for acquisitions and game development rather than multiple subsidiaries operating independently. Any deal is considered unlikely before Savvy completes its $6 billion acquisition of Chinese mobile gaming studio Moonton from ByteDance.
