Saudi Arabia reports airport attacks, three minor injuries
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said attacks on King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport on October 5 caused three minor injuries and material damage. The authority said emergency teams responded and that it was assessing damage and checking the safety of airport facilities. The injured were taken to hospital, according to the authority’s statement, issued October 6. It did not provide a detailed account of the damage or say whether airport operations were disrupted. The reported injuries and damage concern the two airports in southern Saudi Arabia; the full operational impact was not yet clear. Yemen’s Houthi movement said it had targeted sites across southern Saudi Arabia, including airports and military facilities. The reports do not independently establish who carried out the attacks on the Jazan and Najran airports. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree also claimed the group struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, an Aramco refinery in Rabigh and military sites. Saudi authorities had not confirmed damage at those locations in the available reporting.
