Saudi Arabia Launches First National Electric Car Brand Ceer

Saudi Arabia's first national automaker, Ceer, officially launched its inaugural electric vehicles on Monday, September 21, 2026, marking a significant step in the kingdom's economic diversification strategy. The company unveiled the Exobot sedan and SUV, which are the first models in a planned portfolio of seven vehicles to be released over the next five years. The launch was presided over by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is also chairman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the sovereign wealth fund that co-founded Ceer with Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn in 2022. The Crown Prince stated the initiative would support the development of a sustainable industrial ecosystem and strengthen the automotive sector's contribution to economic growth. The Exobot vehicles feature radical, wedge-shaped designs with gullwing doors and were styled by Rob Melville, the former design director at McLaren. Ceer CEO James DeLuca noted that the Crown Prince had significant influence on the final design, pushing the team to create something "new, unique and different.
