SAPS dismisses Major General Feroz Khan after disciplinary hearing absence

Major General Feroz Khan, the suspended deputy head of Crime Intelligence in the South African Police Service, has been dismissed from the force with immediate effect. The dismissal was confirmed by SAPS on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after Khan failed to appear for an internal disciplinary hearing. His lawyers have indicated they will legally challenge the decision, arguing it was procedurally unfair. The dismissal was enacted under Regulation 97b of the SAPS Discipline Regulations. SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe stated that Khan was deemed dismissed after he did not appear before the designated senior officer for the expedited disciplinary process. This action followed the Labour Court's dismissal of Khan's urgent application to interdict the disciplinary process earlier in the week.
