Samsung Affiliates Commit $1 Billion to Helix
Samsung affiliates have agreed to invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, a KKR-backed company developing infrastructure for artificial intelligence, according to Samsung. Helix, however, described the commitment as coming from Samsung Electronics alone, leaving the investor and allocation unclear in the accounts released Tuesday. Samsung’s statement named six participating affiliates: Samsung Electronics, Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance. It said Samsung Electronics would provide $500 million and the other five companies would contribute a combined $500 million. Under that account, the affiliates would join Helix as founding investors. Helix said Samsung Electronics had committed $1 billion through its capital fund to support the company’s global AI infrastructure buildout. The accounts do not resolve whether the investment is being made by Samsung Electronics alone or collectively by the six affiliates, nor whether the different descriptions refer to separate commitments. The stated allocations therefore remain disputed.
