Salah receives six-month UK driving ban after speeding conviction

Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian football star, has been banned from driving in the United Kingdom for six months after being convicted of failing to identify the driver of his speeding Rolls-Royce. The former Liverpool forward was disqualified and ordered to pay £1,044 in fines, court costs, and a victim surcharge following a hearing at Warrington Combined Court. The conviction stems from an incident on March 27, 2026, in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Court documents state that a Rolls-Royce Spectre registered in Salah's name was recorded by a speed camera travelling at 36mph in a 30mph zone. Salah, 34, did not respond to a notice of prosecution from Cheshire Constabulary and did not enter a plea to the charge of failing to provide information identifying the driver. He was prosecuted under the Single Justice Procedure, a process where magistrates hear certain cases in private. The court convicted Salah in his absence of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver. The original speeding charge was later withdrawn, and the conviction was solely for the failure to identify the driver.
