Russia Welcomes Trump Energy Truce Proposal But Strikes Continue

Russia has welcomed a proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump for a mutual ceasefire on attacks against energy infrastructure, calling it a "very good idea overall." However, neither Moscow nor Kyiv has confirmed an agreement, and both nations continued strikes on energy targets in the hours following the announcement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Tuesday that the proposal was a positive step but outlined conditions for its effectiveness. He insisted that for any truce to help stabilize global fuel prices, Russia must also be allowed to export its oil unhindered and that Western sanctions must be lifted. "It is necessary to ensure safe commercial shipping and navigation here, including for oil tankers," Peskov told reporters. "And the second thing that needs to be done is, of course, to lift sanctions against Russia and these unlawful restrictions on energy supplies."
