Russia Plans Massive Strikes on Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure
Russia announced on August 30 that it is preparing massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, framing the escalation as retaliation for Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian and fuel facilities. The declaration came as the death toll from a devastating Russian strike on an ammunition depot near Kyiv climbed to 38, marking one of the deadliest single incidents in the capital's suburbs since the full-scale invasion began. The Russian Defense Ministry stated its forces have begun preparations for large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy sector in response to what it described as ongoing attacks by the "Kyiv regime" on Russian civilian infrastructure and oil and energy complex.
