Russell, Dos Santos set world hurdles records in Zurich
Two world records fell in the hurdles at the Zurich Diamond League on Thursday, August 27, 2026, as American Masai Russell and Brazil's Alison Dos Santos delivered historic performances on the same night. Russell shattered the women's 100m hurdles world record with a time of 12.09 seconds, while Dos Santos broke the men's 400m hurdles mark in 45.80 seconds. Russell's run erased the previous record of 12.12 seconds set by Nigeria's Tobi Amusan in 2022. The American Olympic champion, who had been chasing the mark all season, finally achieved it in windless conditions. She won the race ahead of Amusan, who finished second in a season-best 12.23 seconds.
