Root criticizes England off-field conduct
England captain Joe Root expressed frustration on August 25 that his team's recent on-field success has been overshadowed by another off-field controversy, after fast bowler Brydon Carse was removed from the squad for the second Test against Pakistan. Carse was detained by police on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside a nightclub in Derby on the night of August 22, following Durham's County Championship victory over Derbyshire. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed Carse, 31, would not be available for selection for the Test starting at Lord's on August 27. The incident has been referred to the independent Cricket Regulator for investigation.
