Roman Telescope Completes First Course Correction in Space

NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has successfully completed its first course correction in space, a critical maneuver following its launch on August 30, 2026. The telescope, which lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket, is now on a roughly three-month journey to its operational orbit about one million miles from Earth. The agency confirmed that the first midcourse correction burn began at 12:02 p.m. EDT on August 31 and lasted approximately three minutes. This adjustment ensures the observatory remains on a precise trajectory toward the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point, known as L2.
