Roman Reigns retains World Heavyweight Championship in WWE Raw Mexico City

Published 15 September 2026

Roman Reigns retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta in the main event of WWE Raw at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on September 14, 2026. The victory marked the first time the flagship show had visited the Mexican capital in 15 years. Penta earned his title opportunity by winning an eight-man tournament featuring luchadores from Raw, SmackDown, and AAA. He defeated Laredo Kid in the opening round, La Parka in the semifinal, and his brother Rey Fenix in the final on August 31. The tournament was created by AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio to determine Reigns' challenger for the historic Mexico City event. The card also featured Chad Gable defending the Intercontinental Championship against Dragon Lee. Lee secured his title shot after defeating Ethan Page in a No. 1 contenders match, a contest that saw Gable prevent Page from cheating. Two Money in the Bank qualifying triple-threat matches were scheduled for the evening. In the women's qualifier, Womens Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez faced NXT Womens Champion Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice, who was making her Raw debut.
