Roblox Announces Major Platform Expansion Amid Child Safety Lawsuits
Roblox announced a major expansion of its platform on September 11, 2026, introducing features that will allow creators to publish games as standalone apps and enable browser-based and offline play. The company revealed the "Roblox Everywhere" initiative at its annual Roblox Developers Conference, detailing plans to let creators release their games as dedicated applications across mobile, PC, and console platforms, with Roblox providing the underlying technology and services. The expansion includes a browser-based play mode set to launch by the end of 2026, initially on Chrome. This feature will allow players to join a game directly from its Experience Details Page without downloading or installing the main Roblox app. Players will be able to click links from search results, social media, or email to start playing instantly. Additional browser support is planned for later. Roblox also announced plans for offline solo play, scheduled for mid-2027, with early access coming sooner. This will enable users to continue playing games even with intermittent internet connectivity.
