Robinhood Crypto Volume Rebounds 61% in August, Led by Bitstamp

Published 12 September 2026

Robinhood's combined cryptocurrency trading volume rebounded sharply in August, rising 61% from July to $17.5 billion, according to the company's latest operating data. The increase, however, still leaves the total 38% below the level recorded in August 2025, indicating the recovery is from a weak base rather than a return to prior-year strength. The August volume was split between two platforms. Bitstamp, the cryptocurrency exchange Robinhood acquired in 2025, supplied $10.1 billion, or 57.7% of the total. The core Robinhood App handled the remaining $7.4 billion. While the app's volume grew 72% from July, it fell 46% year-over-year. Bitstamp's volume increased 53% month-over-month but declined 30% from a year earlier. The data underscores that the acquisition of Bitstamp has become a major driver of Robinhood's crypto activity. The exchange now provides the majority of the company's consolidated crypto volume, a shift from when the consumer app was the primary venue. However, notional volume figures cannot be directly translated into revenue due to differences in asset mix, customer geography, spreads, and fee schedules between the two platforms.
