Robertson urges Tottenham to put past behind them
Andy Robertson has urged Tottenham Hotspur to put the frustrations of recent seasons behind them and avoid losing composure in matches, as they enter the international break bottom of the Premier League with two points from five games. The Scotland defender said the squad must stop carrying the psychological weight of previous campaigns and focus on moving forward. Speaking on The Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast, Robertson said last season had affected the players and that the manager’s message was to leave those setbacks behind. He expressed confidence that Tottenham’s determination could help them improve, but said no one could know how far the club’s current project would go. Tottenham have drawn twice and lost three times in the league. They were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup after a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool on September 15. Robertson pointed to that match as an example of the team’s changing confidence: he said players dropped their heads after conceding, then became more assertive when they scored. He also cited a 0-0 draw with Everton on September 12, saying Tottenham began rushing their play late in the match.
