Ripple Outlines Four-Phase Plan for XRP Ledger Quantum Security
Ripple has outlined a four-phase strategy to secure the XRP Ledger against future quantum computing threats, setting a target of full quantum readiness by 2028. The plan, announced on April 20, 2026, aims to preemptively protect the network before quantum computers become capable of breaking current cryptographic standards. The initiative responds to research published in March 2026 by Google's Quantum AI team, which found that approximately 500,000 physical qubits could be sufficient to break elliptic curve cryptography, the system securing private keys across most blockchains.
