Riot repays $200 million Coinbase credit facility
Riot Platforms repaid and terminated its secured credit facility with Coinbase Credit, releasing collateral that included Bitcoin, USDC and cash, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing said Riot made its final payment of principal and interest on Monday and incurred no early termination fees or penalties. The facility allowed Riot to borrow up to $200 million. The reports do not establish how much the company had drawn. The pledged assets were held with Coinbase Custody Trust Company; repayment released them from the lender’s collateral claim. The filing described the payment and termination but did not outline a replacement financing plan. Riot has not detailed how it will fund the next phase of its data-center expansion. Ending the facility frees the pledged assets, while also removing an established source of borrowing capacity. The available reports do not quantify the effect on Riot’s liquidity or explain what other financing will be used. The repayment comes as Riot expands beyond Bitcoin mining into data-center operations.
