Ridley Scott's 'The Dog Stars' draws mixed reviews

Ridley Scott's postapocalyptic thriller "The Dog Stars" has received largely mixed to negative reviews ahead of its wide theatrical release on August 28, 2026. Based on Peter Heller's 2012 novel, the film stars Jacob Elordi as Hig, a pilot living in a desolate Colorado with his dog and a cynical survivalist named Bangley, played by Josh Brolin. The story follows Hig's journey toward a mysterious radio signal after a personal tragedy, leading him to encounter other survivors, including Cima (Margaret Qualley) and her father Pops (Guy Pearce).
