Richarlison Seeks Tottenham Contract Termination

Published 10 September 2026

Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is reportedly seeking to terminate his contract with the club in an effort to secure a move back to Brazil. The Brazilian international has been excluded from Tottenham's 25-man Premier League squad for the current season, leaving him with potential first-team appearances only in cup competitions. He is currently training alone. Richarlison publicly stated that he would not allow others to decide his future and expressed his availability to Tottenham. However, reports from his home nation suggest a more aggressive approach is being taken. Brazilian outlet Globo claims Richarlison has agreed personal terms with Vasco da Gama, his childhood club, but a permanent transfer is financially challenging for the Brazilian side. A loan move is also reportedly complicated by FIFA regulations. Manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed that Richarlison indicated his desire to leave at the beginning of preseason. De Zerbi stated that the decision to omit the player from the Premier League squad was not his own, but rather a club responsibility, emphasizing his preference to work with players who are committed to staying.
