Republican Groups Pour Millions Into Texas Senate Race to Aid Paxton
Republican outside groups have abruptly shifted to heavily fund Ken Paxton's Texas Senate campaign, booking over $51 million in advertising to support the GOP nominee after previously staying on the sidelines. The move creates a major spending advantage over Democrat James Talarico and reflects a change in Republican strategy to treat Texas as a competitive battleground. Texas PAC, a group affiliated with the Senate Leadership Fund, the main super PAC allied with Senate Republican leaders, booked the $51 million in advertising on Friday. This adds to more than $23 million already booked by other Republican groups for Paxton from September 1 through Election Day, giving him and Republican allies a five-to-one spending advantage over Talarico and Democratic allies, according to ad-tracking firm AdImpact. Republican organizations have now spent or reserved approximately $60.8 million in advertising since Paxton secured the nomination, including bookings through the end of September. Democratic spending stands at $43.7 million, with nearly all of that coming directly from Talarico's campaign.
