One official told the Post that not all of the undisclosed deaths were directly tied to the Iran war but involved U.S. personnel stationed in the Middle East amid hostilities. The same official also said three U.S. contractors based in the region have died since combat operations began. The identities, circumstances, and exact timing of the additional deaths remain unclear.
