Report: Israel dismantling Palestinian life in West Bank

Israeli rights group BTselem released a report on Monday alleging that Israel is executing a systematic and accelerated campaign to dismantle Palestinian collective life in the occupied West Bank. The report, titled "The Elimination Project," claims this campaign is designed to establish permanent Jewish-Israeli sovereignty and make it impossible for Palestinians to exist as a people. The report identifies five interconnected mechanisms it says Israel uses to advance this project: violence and intimidation, ethnic cleansing and territorial takeover, movement restrictions, economic strangulation, and social and political destruction. BTselem Executive Director Yuli Novak stated that these policies "dismantle the conditions Palestinians need to continue living here as a people." According to the report, Israeli forces and settlers have killed at least 1,107 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 7, 2023. It also states that at least 75 Palestinian communities have been forcibly displaced, and that settler-controlled outposts have taken control of approximately 18 percent of the West Bank's land.
