Renault Unveils One-Off Electric R8 Gordini Concept

Renault unveiled a one-off electric concept inspired by the Renault 8 Gordini on September 24, presenting a two-seat, two-door coupe as a design exercise rather than a model planned for production. The company said it will show the concept at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled for October 12 to 18, 2026. The design draws on the 1960s Gordini with six round headlights, a V-shaped bonnet crease, squared wheel arches and a blue-and-white racing-inspired livery. It reworks those cues in a lower, wider coupe form, with 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear. Renault’s published dimensions are 4.12 metres long, 1.88 metres wide and 1.27 metres tall. The original Renault 8 Gordini was a four-door sedan. Its modern reinterpretation has two seats and a fully electric powertrain. Published reports describe a single motor producing about 270 horsepower and driving the rear wheels. Renault has not provided a complete technical specification, including the battery capacity, driving range or acceleration. Reports differ on whether the motor is mounted at the rear, and Renault’s disclosed information does not settle its location.
