Reigns retains title, faces Knight at Money in the Bank

Roman Reigns defeated Penta to retain the World Heavyweight Championship on WWE Raw in Mexico City, then was confronted by LA Knight, setting up a title match at Money in the Bank. The main event at Arena CDMX saw Reigns overcome a spirited challenge from the hometown favorite, who had won a No. 1 contender tournament. Penta, wearing a headdress for his entrance, had the crowd firmly behind him and executed several high-impact moves, including a Sacrifice on Reigns' arm. Reigns persevered, kicking out of a Penta Driver and a Mexican Destroyer before countering a high-risk move with a Superman Punch and finishing with a spear for the pin. The loss was met with disappointment from the Mexico City audience. Following the match, LA Knight attacked Reigns in the ring, hitting him with a BFT. Reigns responded by challenging Knight to a title match at Money in the Bank, scheduled for October 10 in New Orleans. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce later made the bout official. A report from PWInsider Elite indicates WWE is planning to book Sami Zayn, the current WWE Champion, against Reigns as the main event of the Crown Jewel event on November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
