Rani Mukerji Salim Khan Honored at Maharashtra Film Awards

The 62nd Maharashtra State Film Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi, Mumbai. The event honored prominent figures in Indian cinema, with actress Rani Mukerji receiving the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award and veteran screenwriter Salim Khan being presented with the Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presented both awards. Rani Mukerji, a recipient of numerous accolades throughout her career, expressed that the award held particular significance as it came from her home state. "I think that's what makes this moment truly special for me since I'm receiving this recognition from my very own people and from the place I belong to," Mukerji stated. She dedicated the honour to Maharashtra, its people, artists, technicians, filmmakers, and the entire film fraternity. Salim Khan, a celebrated screenwriter, was unable to attend the ceremony in person. His wife, veteran actress Helen, accepted the award on his behalf. Helen provided an update on Khan's health, stating, "His health is very good.
