Rangers sign Bouanani on loan from Stuttgart

Published 3 September 2026

Rangers have completed the signing of Algerian winger Badredine Bouanani on a season-long loan from German club VfB Stuttgart, with an option to make the transfer permanent. The 21-year-old becomes the Scottish club's 14th signing of the summer transfer window, which closed on September 3, 2026. The deal was finalized on deadline day after Bouanani underwent a medical in Glasgow. The move represents a late turnaround, as the player had been in advanced negotiations with French side RC Strasbourg earlier in the week. However, that proposed loan switch collapsed when the French transfer window shut, allowing Rangers to re-enter the discussions and secure the player's services. Manager Derek McInnes expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition. "We are delighted to welcome Badredine to the club. He is an exciting young player who will add real quality, creativity and a different dimension to our attacking options," McInnes said. "He is very good with the ball, a real threat in one v one situations and he has already gained experience in two of Europe's top leagues.
