Ramos winner gives Portugal 2-1 Nations League win over Norway

Portugal beat Norway 2-1 in Oslo on Sunday, with Gonçalo Ramos scoring the winning goal after Cristiano Ronaldo remained an unused substitute in the Nations League match. The result gave Portugal a second straight win to open its campaign, while Norway’s equaliser was quickly answered by Ramos’s decisive finish. João Félix opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finishing a move that began down Portugal’s left. Norway levelled early in the second half when Erling Haaland scored from close range after a set-piece sequence involving Martin Ødegaard and Patrick Berg. Portugal restored its lead soon afterward. Norway goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland played a pass directly to Ramos, who lifted the ball over him and into the net. Ramos later appeared to score again after another Nyland error, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Portugal held on as Norway pressed late in the match. Ronaldo watched from the bench throughout and did not enter the game. His absence left his pursuit of 1,000 career goals unchanged. Two reports put him 21 goals short of that mark, while one gave his total as 979, comprising 833 club goals and 146 for Portugal.
