Rakul Preet Singh Denies Links to Mumbai Tax Searches

Published 5 October 2026

Actor Rakul Preet Singh publicly denied that she was connected to recent Income Tax searches in Mumbai, rejecting reports linking her to illegal foreign remittances or benami property. In a social media statement, she said the search was not related to her and urged publishers of reports she called false and speculative to retract them and clarify the facts. Singh also said she had paid her taxes since age 20 and was not involved in illegal foreign remittances, either personally or on behalf of a production house. She denied holding benami property for anyone in India or abroad. These are statements by Singh; the reports provide no public official finding establishing whether the allegations are true or false. The searches were reported to have taken place on September 28 at around 12 locations in Mumbai as part of an inquiry into suspected financial irregularities involving film financing and overseas transactions. Some accounts associated the locations with people and companies linked to filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani and Panorama Studios. The descriptions of the locations and their connections vary, and the supplied reports do not establish the precise scope of the searches.
