Rahul Gandhi Criticizes System at Indore Student Event

Published 19 September 2026

Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, addressed a student outreach event in Indore on Saturday, September 19, 2026, criticizing the political system for preferring obedient followers over questioning youth. The event, part of his "Chhatron Ki Goonj" series, focused on education and recruitment issues, with students raising grievances about delays and irregularities. Gandhi stated that the system feels threatened by students because they ask questions, and it prefers "andhbhakts," or blind followers. He alleged that the system is controlled by a few individuals, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and industrialists, who suppress curiosity and dissent. During the interaction, students highlighted problems such as a 13% quota issue in Madhya Pradesh examinations, recruitment delays, and alleged irregularities in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission. One student claimed he was booked and jailed after raising concerns about irregularities. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav responded by calling Gandhi a "careless politician" who visited without adequate preparation.
