Raheem Sterling pleads guilty to dangerous driving after M3 crash

Former England footballer Raheem Sterling pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide, and failing to provide a specimen at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Tuesday. The 31-year-old admitted the charges following a single-vehicle crash on the M3 in Hampshire on May 28. Prosecutors told the court that between 7:45 a.m. and 8:52 a.m. on the morning of the crash, multiple motorists called police to report a black Lamborghini Urus being driven erratically across the M25, M3, A327, and Minley Road. Witness Christopher Jennings called 999 after seeing the driver inhaling from a balloon. Another motorist, Fiona Jennings, described the driving as "absolutely horrendous" and said she initially thought the inflated balloon in front of the driver's face was a deployed airbag. Police bodyworn footage played in court showed officers approaching the crashed vehicle at 9:15 a.m. to find Sterling holding two nitrous oxide canisters on his lap. A total of six canisters were recovered. Prosecutor Simon Jones told the court that Sterling told custody staff he had a problem with nitrous oxide.
