Pune Awarded 2032 UCI Road World Championships

The Union Cycliste Internationale has awarded Pune the 2032 UCI Road World Championships, bringing the event to India for the first time. The decision was announced at the UCI Congress in Montréal on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and also saw the Dutch regions of Groningen and Drenthe awarded the 2034 championships. The 2034 event will include the UCI Paracycling Road World Championships, according to UCI President David Lappartient. The two awards mean both bidding groups will host a major championship after competing for the 2032 edition. Pune’s bid was accepted despite arriving after the UCI’s usual bidding deadline, while Groningen and Drenthe were offered the later event. Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra, will stage the Road Worlds for the first time in the country. The award follows the city’s hosting of the inaugural Bajaj Pune Grand Tour, a UCI 2.2 stage race held in January 2026. That race was India’s first UCI-sanctioned multistage road event. A UCI delegation visited Pune from September 4 to 6 to assess proposed routes and infrastructure, including possible facilities around the Balewadi Sports Complex.
