President Murmu Confers 82 National Teachers Awards
President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teachers Awards on 82 outstanding educators on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The ceremony, held on the occasion of Teachers Day, recognized teachers from school education, higher education, and skill development sectors for their contributions. Addressing the award recipients, President Murmu praised teachers across the country for their pivotal role in bringing the school dropout rate to a negligible level. She emphasized that school education forms the bedrock of the entire educational system and that teachers are instrumental in shaping children's intellectual, physical, and moral development. According to the President, imparting lessons in good conduct during childhood is particularly effective, and teachers can cultivate responsible citizens by focusing on students' overall growth in their early years. President Murmu highlighted education as the most effective means to achieve equality of opportunity as guaranteed by the Constitution.
