Premier League panel unanimously clears Arsenal's Gabriel of red card

The Premier League's independent Key Match Incidents panel has unanimously ruled that Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes did not commit a red-card offense when he kicked Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in the head during a match earlier this month. The decision, announced on Wednesday, upholds the on-field referee's call and means Gabriel faces no retrospective punishment. The incident occurred in the fifth minute of Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on September 6. With Chelsea leading 1-0, Martinez attempted to gather a loose ball during a scramble in the penalty area. Gabriel, also challenging for the ball, lifted his left foot and struck Martinez in the face. Referee Chris Kavanagh took no action, and VAR Darren England did not recommend a review. In its official statement, the five-person KMI panel said it "unanimously supported the referee's call of no red card.
