Porsche Adds Power Doors, Wireless Charging to 2027 Cayenne Electric

Published 16 September 2026

Porsche is enhancing the 2027 Cayenne Electric with a suite of new luxury and convenience features, including optional electrically operated doors, wireless home charging, and an advanced massage system. The updates, announced on September 16, 2026, allow buyers to further customize the electric SUV, with orders now open for delivery starting in early 2027. The most notable addition is the power-operated doors, which use servo motors to open and close automatically after a brief pull of the handle. Drivers can control the doors via interior buttons, the infotainment system, exterior handles, or the Porsche Digital Key. The driver's door can also close automatically when the seatbelt is fastened or the brake pedal is pressed. Sensors monitor the surrounding area to prevent the doors from hitting obstacles or opening into traffic, and the system functions on inclines while manual operation remains available. Another key feature is Porsche Wireless Charging, which uses a weatherproof ground pad installed in a parking space. Once the Cayenne is positioned correctly, charging starts automatically at up to 11 kW with approximately 90% efficiency.
