Polymarket Launches Perpetual Futures Trading

Published 5 September 2026

Polymarket, a platform known for prediction markets, has launched a perpetual futures trading service, expanding into leveraged derivatives for international users. The new offering, called Polymarket Perps, went live on September 3, 2026, allowing eligible customers to trade with leverage of up to 20 times on a range of assets including cryptocurrencies, stocks, commodities, and indices. The service initially features 10 markets: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Hyperliquid's HYPE token, gold, silver, West Texas Intermediate crude oil, the S&P 500 index, the Nasdaq 100 index, and a contract tracking SpaceX shares, designated as SPCX. Unlike traditional futures contracts, perpetual contracts have no expiration date and remain active as long as traders meet margin requirements. Payments are exchanged between long and short traders at regular intervals to keep the contract price aligned with the underlying asset's spot price. Polymarket claims its new venue offers the deepest liquidity and lowest fees, though specific comparative data was not provided.
