Police Scotland visit Celtic training ground ahead of Old Firm derby

Police Scotland officers visited Celtic's training ground for a 15-minute meeting with the squad ahead of their Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday. Celtic manager Martin O'Neill described the visit as a "general behaviour" reminder and a "timely reminder" in light of recent fixtures. The meeting comes as the first Old Firm derby of the season takes place under heightened scrutiny following chaotic scenes at the previous encounter in March. That Scottish Cup quarterfinal, which Celtic won on penalties, was marred by fan disorder, including pitch invasions, clashes between supporters, and injuries to police officers and stewards. At least 37 people were arrested in the aftermath. As a result of the disorder, no away fans will be present at Ibrox for Sunday's match, a decision made by authorities. The two clubs have also been ordered to play their next home Scottish Cup matches behind closed doors and have been handed a £100,000 compensation bill. O'Neill said the police visit focused on player conduct and behaviour both on and off the field.
