Police investigate targeted death of man in Armadale

Published 15 September 2026

Police in Scotland are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man in Armadale, West Lothian, as a targeted attack, with a firearm being examined as a possible line of inquiry. The man was found injured at an address on Harestanes Road at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. Officers from Police Scotland's Major Investigations Team are leading the inquiry. Superintendent Jocelyn Thomson stated on Monday that the incident was a targeted attack and expressed confidence that the perpetrator would be found. "I understand people will be concerned about these incidents and a significant police presence remains in the area," Thomson said. "However, this has been a targeted attack, and a team of experienced officers is working on the case." Detective Superintendent Michelle Findlay has appealed for public assistance, specifically urging residents to check private CCTV, doorbell cameras, and dashcam footage for any relevant images. "If you have any information, no matter how insignificant you think it is, please let us know, it could be vital to our ongoing inquiries," Findlay said.
