Published 18 September 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 76th birthday on September 17, 2026, with tributes from across India's political, sports, and entertainment spheres, while his party launched a month-long public service campaign. President Droupadi Murmu led the official greetings, highlighting Modi's 25 years in public life. "Over the past 25 years, during your tenure as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, you have established many new benchmarks of good governance and imparted unprecedented momentum and a new direction to inclusive development," Murmu wrote. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended their wishes, with Shah emphasizing the government's national security record. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) marked the occasion by launching the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, a month-long campaign running from September 17 to October 17. The initiative, described as a public service and outreach programme, includes blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, school competitions, and youth yatras connecting Modi's birthplace of Vadnagar in Gujarat with his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.
